LAURA GILLEN
Laura Gillen is a Democratic congresswoman representing New York’s 4th Congressional District on Long Island, which includes much of southern Nassau County. An attorney and former Hempstead Town Supervisor, Gillen became the first Democrat elected to lead the Town of Hempstead in more than a century, where she focused on government accountability, infrastructure improvements, and taxpayer protections. After narrowly losing a congressional bid in 2022, she won election to Congress in 2024 by flipping a key swing district. In Congress, Gillen has established herself as a pragmatic, bipartisan Democrat focused on lowering costs for families, improving transportation and infrastructure, expanding economic opportunity, and strengthening public safety. She serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, representing one of the nation’s most competitive suburban districts.
