KRISTEN McDONALD RIVET
Kristen McDonald Rivet is a Democratic congresswoman representing Michigan’s 8th Congressional District, which includes Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland. A lifelong Michigander and former Michigan state senator, she built her career in education, child care, and economic development, serving as Executive Director of Michigan Head Start, a leader at the Skillman Foundation, and chief of staff at the Michigan Department of Education. Elected to Congress in 2024, McDonald Rivet has focused on lowering costs for working families, expanding economic opportunity, strengthening infrastructure, and supporting bipartisan solutions to issues affecting Mid-Michigan communities. Known for her pragmatic, center-left approach, she serves on the House Agriculture and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees and was elected Freshman Leadership Representative for the New Democrat Coalition.
